More Self Affirmation Techniques

Of the many self affirmations techniques and types, is there any single self affirmation that encompasses all important aspects of your life without the need to do multiple categories of affirmations?

Phunshuk from Ladakh, India asked about this, as well as other self affirmation techniques to get the most out of affirmations.

Dear great soul,

I am really grateful to you cause I have been using affirmations for a long time after reading about it in one of the local newspaper, but even after using it for around 4 months now I still find my self tired, lazy and irritated.

Your site has shown me my error, i.e that an affirmation must appeal to yourself. With this I arrive at my problem:-

Question 1
I want a short crisp affirmation that can help me boost my confidence, energies, make me happy and those good things.

Question 2
What are the things I should keep in my mind before I create this affirmation and some tips to make it the best myself?

I feel an answer this question will worth a million dollar as many like me can get their solution, become successful and in return bless your site.

Question 3
My son is going to appear for the board exam. Are there any powerful affirmation that he can use for himself?

Thank you
Have a great successful 2010.

Question 1 Answer

There are many categories of affirmation you can do. Like happiness affirmations, wealth affirmations, and self esteem affirmations just to name a few.

But if I had to choose one short crisp affirmation to do everyday, it would be one about self acceptance and letting go of any feelings of self pity or self importance. Something like “I completely accept what is and let go of all feelings of self importance and self pity”.

What this affirmation helps do is allow you to have total acceptance of what is. This allows you to live fully within the present moment. And ultimately what this brings you is joy, confidence, happiness and unlimited energy.

If you think about it, a lot of our suffering, lack of confidence, unhappiness etc are caused by our need for things to happen in a certain way, for people to act in a certain way etc. “ _____ should have happened” , “_____ should not have happened” , “Mr. X should have done this instead of that” etc.

When you live by the belief that whatever happens is for your own growth and progress, there’s virtually nothing that can bring you down. When you interpret any situation this way, you can’t help but be confident, happy and peaceful within.

It is just our own delusion in believing in a false sense of self importance and self pity that creates this unhappiness and negativity.

Question 2 Answer

One tip you should keep in mind is to make doing that affirmation a daily routine. It must be something that you do everyday consistently without fail.

One way to make that happen is to make it within a part of your daily routine. That means integrating it into something that you do everyday. For example, let’s say you take the train to work everyday, or you walk your dog every morning ; you can do the affirmation while doing these activities. And because it is something that you do everyday without fail, it will also make do the affirmations consistently.

After a while, it will be so ingrained that you start doing the affirmations without thinking and will even feel something amiss whenever you don’t do affirmations while going through that daily activity.

Any routine activity will do, as long as it is something that doesn’t take up too much of your focus and attention. Any activity that can be put in the background while you focus on doing the affirmation.

Here are a few more self affirmation techniques :

It is far better to stick to one or a few affirmations that you consistently do everyday rather than to do a different affirmation everyday. The power of affirmations is in it’s consistently and repetitions.

Doing it earlier in the day helps. The earlier, the better. You can also do it multiple times in a day, once in the morning, another in the evening or at night.

Question 3 Answer

For your son, affirmations around one’s memory and understanding are particularly good for examinations. Beliefs around one’s abilities is also important.

Here are some examples :

“I remember clearly what I have learned”

“I am confident and relaxed because I have prepared well for this exam”

“I understand the question and know what answers are needed”

“I believe in myself and my abilities”
