3. Effective scheduling


The scheduling of your personal development plan is a very important aspect. Set poor schedules and you'll end up either not sticking to it, or just not being efficient making full use of it. When setting the schedule for working on the improvement areas in your personal development plan, there are two general tips ;


1. Set it earlier in the day

personal development plan tips It is always a better idea to work on improving yourself earlier in the day. This is the time that you are most fresh and receptive. In the morning you will feel energized from a good night's sleep, and you're not distracted by anything.

On the other hand, choosing to work on improving yourself or gaining knowledge later in the day or at the end of the day isn't such a good idea. Why is this so? By the end of the day we are usually tired from the day's activities and happenings.

In addition to that, our mood may have been affected by the things that happened earlier in the day. We are more prone to distractions or emotional instability, and this greatly affects our ability to focus on the task at hand.

By scheduling in the morning, we do not have any of these problems. Even if you have had a bad day the day before, whatever that has happened the day before is left behind when we go to bed. So when we wake up we are starting again refreshed and ready to do what we need to do.



2. Have a fixed time for working on it

personal development plan tips A big part of our lifestyle is due to routine. What we do or do not do isn't really solely due to our conscious choices, but rather a large part of it is because it is what we are used to doing. In other words, it has become a part of our daily routine.

When you have a fixed routine of for example, when to exercise, when to read up new knowledge, when to do meditation, when to practice your skills etc, it is very likely that you will be consistent in doing it. The chances of you sticking to the schedule with discipline and consistency is very high.

Because you are already so used to doing it, there is actually a pattern. A physical neural pattern in your brain which associates a certain time of the day with a certain activity. So much so that you would naturally find yourself being 'pulled' to do that. If you don't do it, you would have a weird feeling and it wouldn't feel right. As if something's amiss. This is what is called a success habit.

By having a fixed routine or fixed timing for working on improving yourself, what you are ultimately doing is setting a habit for success.





Often times success depends on the little details such as this. From certain perspectives, these tips may seem basic and minor. However, a personal development plan that is poorly planned will have an effect not only on the effectiveness and efficiency of achieving the goal, but it will also have an impact on the person's motivation levels, confidence and belief in his or her ability to achieve the goal.

Once those are lost, it becomes that much harder to meet the end objective.
